To all. Thank you for your contributions. It's clear as the saying goes, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. Also, don't get fooled by peoples 'opinion' that they THINK camera software updates are 'definitely' imminent. Priv mostly came with new features and settings (torch, manual mode) and one time with shutter speed improvement (which falls together with the introduction of manual mode where you could change the speed manually). SMCV and his team got released from their duties and it became very quiet in that department. Camera app stopped existing and became part of the software, which could only mean even less updates that were to be expected (since mostly security patches got released once in a blue moon). Key1 released in April 2017. NEVER did there came new features, settings and improvements related to the camera. Yea, one time, locker mode, but it had nothing to do with improving the cam software. So people who want a good cam, don't get fooled by guys telling you that you'll see an improvement soon. I get so tired of certain people always wanting to have the last words in this cam discussion, keep defending its crappy performance til the end, resorting to terminolgy/word games, and keep reiterating the fact that keyone has the same lens as Pixel and Key2 as Galaxy s9 or note or whatever. Who cares. In the end it does not perform similar and that's the only thing that matters. Who cares if you potentially have a Ferrari under the hood, if the end result sucks due to bad software. I complained a lot about the Priv back in the beginning. Especially about the watercolor effect that the post processing software did to pictures. I can't miss a keyboard on my phones, but I also go to loads of social gatherings after work. That means in evenings, nights and indoors. Of all BB phones, Priv does best, even if faces and skin tones all look like a water color painting when pictures are looked on a desktop at 100% resolution.
That Privs cam outperforms Keyone's cam, is especially noticeable when you look take indoor pictures of a book case full of colory books. With Priv you could at least read all the titles when taking photos of it from 1.5 meters, with the Keyone its difficult. Colors are more washed out too. No problem if BB made the cam better when they reduced Megapixels from 18mp to 12 mp. I think Apple did that once too, reducing the MP's in order to get better pics. Not so with BB's phones. Reduction lead to pictures that were worse compared to Priv and to less detail (because pictures became smaller due to the 12MP). And now I also read somewhere that the total size of the jpg are even smaller of key2 photos than of key1 photos. SMDH. Compression can never result in better pics. Ever.
Anyway, always happy to see our friend Guizmox doing some camera tests and sharing his findings on CrackBerry. Together with gizmo21's dedication for software related stuff.
Can anyone show some photos of the selfie cam and maybe also do some comparisons between key1 and key2? Especially indoors and in low light situations. I especially like to see if the skintone has this ugly watercolor effect again. And if you don't want to show their faces, maybe do selfies of the dog or turn around the cam and use the volume rocker to take some outdoor and especially indoor/low-light shots. Thanks. P.S. I hope that BB selfie cams will one day have proper flash. Not LCD flash.
